Ink

by Nidhi Agrawal

A shower of arrows on me on all sides,
The womb bleeds as black as ink.
Tresses drenched in blood
Call for my mother “Kali,”
Whose home will be your
Cremation ground.

Nidhi, who grew up in India, focuses on issues of emotional and physical trauma in her poetry. She strongly believes that poetry is a combination of joy and pain and wonder; a tool that keeps her going in life and is driven by the intense physical and emotional trauma she has encountered through her medical condition. Nidhi is the author of "Confluence," and her writings have been featured in many journals.
