The Invitation List
by Placidus Henry
The Sabbath feast will need chiefs of
neurology to help mystics waken
to Glory, chefs for the Banquet,
carvers of crutches and other
skilled craftsmen, assistants
who scurry about with pressed tux
under arm, junior and senior
partners under foot. However,
munition makers need not apply.
Food-shopping-carts for cardboard floor
with tarp, and more life-support stuff,
are no longer necessary.
See you on the other side and,
remember, bring invitation.
Placidus Henry is a religious poet and Christian progressive committed to justice issues. His book, As Our Fathers told Us, will be published next month by Wipf & Stock.
